I had been googling on Play Station 3, an all time dream gadget of mine, and was totally impressed by it. :D It’s far more than a game console, and I really can’t wait to lay my hand on it! It’s meant to be release in early 2006 and the price might be a big high. :( It’s said to be at U$300-U$400, which should be around B$550-B$700. Anyway, I doubt that as after the tax, transport and etc, the retail price shall be more than B$1000.
A quote from Wikipedia on the pricing of PS3:
The system’s retail price has not yet been confirmed. To compete with the upper price ceiling of the Xbox 360, the PS3 will most likely sell in the U.S. for $300-$400 (£283, €416). Sony Computer Entertainment president and “father of the PlayStation” Ken Kutaragi points out “It’ll be expensive” and “I’m aware that with all these technologies, the PS3 can’t be offered at a price that’s targeted towards households. I think everyone can still buy it if they wanted to,” said Kutaragi to a mostly Japanese crowd. “But we’re aiming for consumers throughout the world. So we’re going to have to do our best [in containing the price]“. In contrast Kazuo Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment America, says the PS3 will not be expensive and that it will be competitively priced against the Xbox 360.
In Wikipedia: PlayStation 3, you can also found a list on the mechanism which built up the PS3 console. It’s so cool! :D
Another great upgrade of PS3 will be the use of Blu-ray disc as the primary storage.
Quote of Blu-ray Disc from Wikipedia.
Oh my god!~
Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a next-generation optical disc format meant for storage of high-definition video and high-density data. The Blu-ray standard was jointly developed by a group of consumer electronics and PC companies called the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA). As compared to the HD DVD format, its main competitor, Blu-ray has more information capacity per layer, 25 instead of 15 gigabytes, but may initially be more expensive to support.
A single-layer Blu-ray disc (BD) can fit 23.3, 25, or 27 GB; this is enough for approximately four hours of high-definition video with audio. A dual-layer BD can fit 46.6, 50, or 54 GB, enough for approximately eight hours of HD video. Capacities of 100 GB and 200 GB, using four and eight layers respectively, are currently being researched; TDK has already announced a prototype four-layer 100 GB disc.
Moreover, the latest upcoming episod of my favourite game, Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the Patriots, will be on PS3 too! :D Can’t wait to play it, but wonder if mom will get me PS3 on it’s initial release next year. :( Well, many popular game series will be on PS3 too, like Tekken 6, Devil May Cry 4, Dynasty Warriors, Final Fantasy(still working on title), Grand Theft Auto 4, Resident Evil 5 and etc.
