Well, I really like the idea of this website!~ :D

Google Testing paypal Killer, GBuy.

PayPal delivered nearly a quarter of eBay’s most recent quarterly revenue of $1.3 billion, the Wall Street Journal said in a report today.

That PayPal revenue may look like a big jar of chocolate chips to the Cookie Monsters at Google. Their rival system, called GBuy, has been getting a workout since the early part of 2005. The Journal cited a source briefed on the service:

For the last nine months, Google has recruited online retailers to test GBuy, according to one person briefed on the service. GBuy will feature an icon posted alongside the paid-search ads of merchants, which Google hopes will tempt consumers to click on the ads, says this person. GBuy will also let consumers store their credit-card information on Google.

Storing payment information has been an ease-of-use feature and strength of PayPal. Google has enough brand recognition to get a lot of attention. The Journal’s report seems to suggest the way Google will get users on board will be through its GBuy retailers. But will eBay accept GBuy as a payment method? Probably, as long as eBay gets its cuts of a sale as is customary.

The GBuy.com domain returns a “page not found” error when tested, so whatever Google has on tap isn’t readily available yet. The domain has been registered to the Burbank, CA, firm Trout & Zimmer. SearchEngineWatch noted in September 2005 how the domain gcalendar.com was transferred from Trout & Zimmer to Data Docket Inc, a firm well known for registering domain names with Google as part of the name.

Google, as per usual, had no comment on any pending products, the Journal said.

I had been busy around with Simple Machine Forum - SMF , a real nice BB(forum) software!~ :D

I planned to develop this new SMF into my Vrien-Den Forum, due to the fact that phpBB2 is too complicated and the codes are much messy, compared to those of the SMF. :D

My experience with SMF is very good so far, and I installed a new theme, which looks real good with it!~ :D

Ok, at first I wasn’t that erm, devoted to switch to this forum.

But with my first success in installing this new theme and several MODs(packages), I realized that this SMF(Simple Machine Forum) is a whole lot easier to use than the old forum, although it doesn’t has the full potential of the old forum.

Some of the new featuers, which isn’t available in the old forum:

Note: Feature indicated by an * means it is not available yet, but will be integrated soon.

1. Karma System

- This is similar to the reward system which I had failed to integrate even if I tried my best, in the old forum. It isn’t exactly what I mentioned last time, but works good enough. It allows others to either applaud(which gain you karma points, or smite(which cause you to lose karma points) your posts. It’s used to reward those who contributed to the forum.

Also, a log system of all karma actions will be added, but not yet, this is tagged with a * . LoL~

Don’t try to spam around and earn karma in a wrong way~ >.< 2. Buddy List *

- This allowed you to add other members into your buddy list.

3. Attachment

- You can now attach files onto your posts for people to view online(maybe? not sure) or download.

4. Random Quote Puller *

- Additional MODs I am working on, I had special love toward quotes, and I wasn’t sure how this work tho.

5. Better posting interface

- This new forum brought forward all the features available in the old forum, and, added even more way to format your post, included Marquee, allow flash, add tables, and even basic HTML like hyperlink.

6. Forum News section

- This give me better way to announce new features and etc.

7. Calendar

- Haven’t try it out. Haha~ But I guess I doesn’t need to explain much?

8. Easier Moderation(for moderator and admin)

- This new forum provide easier way for you to move, split, merge or delete posts/topics.

9. Mood *

- Members can now set your current mood (there’s two type of mood MODs under consideration, one works like avatar or sig, which can be change in your profile while the other one is you choose your mood as you post).

10. Personal Icons *

- Allowed members to add icons which works just like avatar. It’s small, fun and easily recognizable!

11. Latest posts

- Great feature for frequent posters and readers, which displayed the lastest X number of posts(set my me) on the index page.

12. Great User Info and Statistics

- Far more complex user infos and statistic compared to the old forum. Check out the profile section and you’ll get me.

13. Download section *

- A static page with downloads can be achieve, and I can also allowed more active members to download only o.o.

14. Reply to *

- You can now specific a particular post which you want to reply to, thus less quoting.

15. Related topics *

- Show related topics at the bottom when you are reading posts.

16. Shop *

- A shop, as simple as that. Haha~ Might use karma as the currency traded. Also included a bank, with interests.

17. Spoiler *

- Allow you to set a certain part of your text as spoiler, which will be hide, and shown only when the viewer hover(rollover) or click. Great way for yhh2k03!

18. Thank you *

- Other than thanking that particular person who posted a good post by applauding him(in karma system), you can also click on a thank you tab to thanks him/her!

19. Topic ratings *

- Can’t thanks him/her enough by tapping the thank you tab and giving him applaud(karma system)? Ok, give his topic a 5 stars rating! Now members can rate a particular post, from 1-5 stars!

20. Users online today *

- Adds a list of all users that were online on the current day to the ‘Info Center’.

21. Four-stage Warning *

- Users will be warn if they did or post something bad. First, basic warning, something like red card(or yellow card?), second it’s moderation. Meaning all posts from that user need to be approve before it is shown. Third, it’s mute, where all posts from that user will be ignored and hide. Lastly, BAN. LoL~

22. Lots of smileys *

- Okay, I know the current smileys in this forum is very ugly, no worries, there’s 200+ smileys ready to be pack into this forum! LoL~

23. Gmail Field *

- Other than MSN, Yahoo-messenger, you can now add your gmail into your profile too~ Nothing much tho. LoL~

24. Real Name *

- Custom field for members to enter their real name. Only members who entered their real name can view others.

25. More themes! *

- Since the installation process is much easier, I’ll try to add more themes in the future!~ Also, I’ll try to create our own theme, just for Vrien-Den.com!

Well, you might be reluctant to start all over again?

No worries! I found a converter, which can fully migrate the old forum to this new one!

I wasn’t sure if it will total migrate everything included the posts count and sigs, but definitely it will migrates all the members, posts and topics here! No worries people!~

The only drawback is I will need to break the integration of the old forum and gallery, and build a new integration for the gallery with the new forum, and this might takes some time.

The imageshack and custom title feature will be retain in this new forum(if you people still want it)!

This new forum is definitely a greater moderating experience for me and other moderators, and I hope you people will like it.

Anyway, if you people still prefer the old forum, let me know, I am still considering both.
