Vagabond’s Comeback

Hello people, I am back! Weeeee!~ *fireworks*
Well, I am back, after almost 2 weeks of hiatus due to a server crash. It’s my fault tho, for being too abusive on my WordPress installation.
For those who read my blog frequently (and didn’t skip my ‘technical’ posts), you all should know that I love to play around with plugins, one of the most brilliant feature of WordPress. However, due to my frequent installation (and uninstall) of plugins, my database is totally messed up. So, it eventually crashed when I installed (again) another plugin 2 weeks ago, and ta-da, error messages started to appear all over my blog, and in the end, everything is gone.
I was very sad, but thanks to Sheng (Icaras Morgan, Osverton, Wilbertson and all the other names he has) and his web host, my database are restored, but I decided not to bring it back. Instead, I decided to start off with a fresh copy of WordPress, and make sure I don’t abuse it this time, hehe. Man, I learned my lesson, hehe.

Oh yea, I decided to give my blog title (and tag line) a change too. I realize that The World Through My Eyes is too common (I saw it on Flickr, on magazine…), lack of originality, and too long. So I decided to change it to something more personalized, something more symbolic, something shorter - Vagabond’s Caravan. I was thinking about Vagabond’s Tree House or something at first, haha.

Well, rapid changes are expected within coming weeks, especially in the coming June holiday, as I would be importing (manually) old posts from ALL my previous blogs into this blog, as well as my bookmarks, RSS, photos and etc. It’s part of my plan to bring all my online belongings under one roof.

@ Duolulu: Yea, learned my lesson, xD. Gonna create another ’sandbox’ to test plugins, then only will install ‘em on this site. Scary experience, xD~
now its time to clean up all junks on your server before it clashed again! :P the new theme looks clean & tidy. one suggestion though, dont put your adsense at the most bottom - no one will click it.

Welcome back to the blogosphere Ingsiang! :D Well maybe you would want to try backing up your wordpress database periodically so that even if the server crashes you can restore most of the posts and other vital blog information - this can be done via the cPanel, under the MySQL databse or the Backup options.
I love this theme a lot! It’s by N.Design Studio - I think the themes made by it are really nice and user-friendly. The current iTheme you’re using has been updated by the author I think - maybe you would want to download the latest version?

@ Teddy: Hi teddy! =) Yeah, I learn my lesson, have to be more careful now, gotta do regular backup but I still not very familiar with the process. The backup option in cPanel isn’t working for me, so I have to manually go into phpMyAdmin to backup them, how to restore them? I wanted to backup my database now and move them to another server, how to do that? When I restore the database, it will create the database itself, or it(the tables) must be import into an existing database? I am pretty lost here.. T_T
I love this theme a lot too, N.DesignStudio is a genius, I love his designs! His pheonix, and his dock javascript! xD Erm, I checked, nope, the version I use is the one with the IE fix, so yea, thanks for informing tho. =)
Hi there… hmmm about the blog database backup right, what I do is that I log in to my cPanel, download my blog’s backup, and upload it again via cPanel when necessary (e.g. when the server crashes). I’ve never used phpMyAdmin because I’m super unfamiliar with the user interface… confusing and cluttered. Not that it’s not good, but it’s just a matter of personal preference. Maybe you can try googling backing up databse using phpMyAdmin - I believe there are quite a lot of websites out there offering solutions. Anyway, just curious - in what ways cPanel is not working for you?
N.Design Studio is where I draw all my design inspirations from, besides Veerle’s blog (have you heard of it before?). Yep. Even my previous theme teddY-risatioN Alpha is somewhat based on the latest Phoenix theme. Well even the current theme (beta) I’ve adopted some really useful and clean css styling from the site ;)
P.S. Sorry that I confused you about the theme! LOL! My eyes are failing me… T.T
