Facebook Applications (FSX, CS & etc) Addiction & Mock Exams AKA Doom’s Day

This is going to be my last post before my mock exam (some started yesterday, mine starts on Saturday - Thinking Skills paper 1). =) Well, had been spending most of my time on Facebook (damn it!) and doing documentation for my computing project. Finished 80% of my Computing project documentation, around 50 pages (some of my classmates hit 100 pages, freak). It’s a very tedious work, I printscreen more than a hundred times, and half of the time I need to paste it in Microsoft Paint, and crop it, =S

What I hate even more is that I always tend to be distracted by Facebook when I am doing it! What to do? I am working on a laptop, and there’s espeed… Facebook is just a single couple clicks away!

Well, something brilliant about Facebook is that they opened their platform for other developers a couple months ago, and people are allowed to developed applications which can be use with Facebook (similar concept to third-party plugins of Photoshop and etc). It’s a mutual beneficial development - Facebook get the applications for free; developers get to expose his/her applications to the huge, active user base of Facebook.

Here’s some of my favourite applications (BEWARE: THEY ARE VERY ADDICTIVE! =D):

Fantasy Stock Exchange (FSX)

The crazily addicted but n00b Fantasy Stock eXchange (FSX) player - IngSiang. My Facebook FSX portfolio, and all windows open when I was watching my stocks using Google Finance. =DThis is not the first time I play simulated stock exchange game, but not sure why, I just didn’t get ‘hooked’ on last time, haha. (Sheng introduced BetOnMarket.Com to me last time) Probably because that one was a bit too complicated for me, I am still a n00b, blehz.

This application is really fun and easy to learn (I mean how to play the game itself, not winning, hehe). There’s only a couple option (buy, sell, short, cover). It’s very addictive as you see the stock rising this moment, and dive as you refresh the page (particularly BIDU, Baidu.com stock, rise and fall like bungee these days, crazy).

The market open at 9pm to 4am due to New York time, the actual transaction takes place at that time. So yea, me and Derick stayed up until 3am for the past 2 days, watching stocks, HAHA! It’s meaningful too, the learning curve is great, and what I like about it is actually the learning process, it is something base on real world’s market, so yea. =D

P.S: Please check-out the screenshot, =D

Counter-Strike : Red Team Go

Blame YiChing for recommending this to me, lol. It’s pretty addictive as you try to get higher rank, faster than your friends. =D It’s a turn-based battle game (a bit like Neopets’), it’s very simple - you attack people (either random attack, or attack your friend), kill them, gain credits/flags, buy weapons (using credits), rank/level up (determine by flags), and that’s it.

The fun part is attacking your friends, hehe, it’s fun when you read “You wounded Lim(YiChing) with a well aimed torso shot. ” It gets pretty boring after a couple rounds tho, but a few sudden attack at your friends are fun, especially when they’re also playing, they’ll counter-strike back, LoL. =D ZhiShiong and YiChing are playing it day and night, whenever I try to attack them, they counter-strike, damn. =S (and they’re stronger than me)

By the way people, I just added a Wordpress plugin which integrates my Facebook photo albums into this Wordpress blogs. There’s still things to be tweaked, but it’s quite nice at the moment, and I love it. =D Check out the photos link.

Hmmm, life could never be better than now. =)

Haha Facebook sounds real fun! Oh and the day after I posed my comment on your previous entry about Facebook I realised the Facebook fever can taken over my class! Overnight I’ve got like 10+ classmates (out of a total of 26) signing up for Facebook and playing around with the fun thrid-party applications. Haha! :) it sounds really fun! Maybe I should try it out one day, but anyway I’ll have to wait till I’m 18 first (which is in a few weeks’ time!)…

All the best for your mock examinations! Study hard, and switch off your computer when you find it really distracting. It worked for me  take care!
