Chinese New Year 2008 : 除夕 - Fireworks, Gone In Split Seconds
Posted in: Abstract Photography, Gathering with Family, Night Photographyfireworks_2, originally uploaded by IngSiang (Vagabond).
Taken when mom and bro were playing fireworks (1 box of JinSePuBu) on Chinese New Year eve (2008).
I was kind of impressed and happy about this shot(s) because the fireworks only last for around 10 seconds (although it says 48 shots, but there’s only roughly 6 bursts because I think 8 shots were fired at once) and I wasn’t even ready yet! Brother lit the fuse before I finish framing my shots, and I was turning my tripod’s ballhead while clicking the shutter, LoL.
Manually focused (focus @ infinity) and manually exposed (using smallest aperture and bulb shutter speed), =D
Quite a lot of luck were involved I suppose. And I was way TOO close to the fireworks! I was shooting (almost) right below the bursts of fireworks! My camera was pointing (almost) vertically upwards! =D That why it looks weird, the fireworks didn’t fall down to one side like what you see in magazines and TV, LoL. It looks as if the fireworks burst into all direction, because I was directly below it! I hope you get what I mean, =p It’s a bit like bottom view, instead of side view, =D And I am suppose to open the shutter when the sparks start to drop down, but I think I was a bit too confused already, so yea, I am not too sure if this shot is taken when the fireworks burst (hence the sparks are going upward) or dropping down (due to gravitational force), LoL.
Here’s another shot, they’re two different shots, and the only two I got (out of 6 bursts the box of JinSePuBu fired).
Empty box of the fireworks after that…

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! A series of Chinese New Year posts would be coming soon, I am shooting faster than I can post, hehehehe.

Happy CNY! Am first again. Hehe.
Mable: Happy CNY to you too. =)
