23/5 - 25/5 : First Nikon Roadshow in Brunei @ HuaHo Manggis Mall

Today, I attended my Computing A2 paper 3, I feel so shitty about the exam because I am so not ready for it, but yea, I think it was better than what I expect and I hope I don’t fail it, man! =\ Now my worst days/weeks (6 papers, 2 week time) are over, left THS paper 4 and other papers which I am more comfortable with. =)

After my exam, FooGN came to pick me up, then we went to lim-teh. ChiHo (whom I invited to go along with me to the roadshow), June and Tiong then join us at about 12 noon. We went for Call of Duty before we go back to Maktab Duli to play err, 3-cars-going-in-circle-around-MD-car-park, lol. Freaking funny man, haha. Especially Jun (the tall tall one, lol)!

Then after we’re done with the 3-cars-going-in-circle-etc-etc game, we went to HuaHo Manggis Mall for the roadshow. Well, I was anticipating a lot, like, really lots of lenses and cameras, hahaha, well, I didn’t expect the Canon booth to be even bigger than Canon’s, HAHA! But yea, still, there’s a lot of poisonous substances (lol, when photographer talks about poisons, they mean tempting stuffs, which would eventually burn a hole in their wallet).

Me and ChiHo were playing with the demo units - Nikon D60, Nikon D80, Canon EOS 450D and 40D. We also tried the lenses, including 70-300mm VRII, 55-200mm VR (my next lens), 50mm f/1.4 and 105mm Macro VR (This is the most poisonous man!)

poisonous_substances

^ The poisons! =D Look at the prices man!~ =\

There is suppose to be a talk by Francis Calvin Ng, a photographer from Sabah, Malaysia. Too bad, they haven’t set up the stuffs yet, so the first talk (2-5pm) were canceled. I was able to meet Francis Calvin Ng tho, together with Mirez, a net friend i know through blog/Roxine/BruneiForever Forum, haha. We had quite a long chat with Francis Calvin Ng. =) Perhaps such a personal chat is even better than the talk itself, hehe. =D

Francis_Ng

^ Francis Calvin Ng. According to him, he’s more of a nature photographer although he also cover occasional commercial shoots and etc. =) A friendly guy. =D

Oh yea, other than Mirez, I also met up with lots of other BFF photographers, including Souljah, Jimmy747, Zadm (and his ang-moh-like kid), Nikonian/Chee, God’sGift, Fouzi and more! =D Nice to meet ya all, =)

betrayer_in_action

^ See the betrayer? Wear Nikon (yellow) shirt, hold Nikon brochures but look through the viewfinder of a Canon EOS 40D! Not good!~ -.-” HAHA Nola, he was actually a Nikon spy! =D Who didn’t seems to conceal his identity properly (even worse with another Nikon boy (ie. me), shooting him with a D40 20 inches away, lol.

Nikon_Sign

^ I am so addicted to the word - NIKON! =D

Nikon_Model_Tiong

^ WOO! Nikon model! Cool man, they use male model instead of female one, hah! This is Tiong, posing against a Nikon laser range finder (which is a cool device that use laser to find the distance from the device to a defined point, through the scope). =D

OMG_WTF_BBQ_TOO_FUNNY

^ Finally, the shot of the day, I am so not going to put up a caption for this shot, HAHA!

Update: Corrected, the photographer’s name is Calvin, not Francis, checked his name card, HAHA, blur me. =p Sorry.

Absolute poison! Need 105 as antidote now@_@

IngSiang (Vagabond) Posted on 29 May, 2008 at 8:21 pm

Jason: yeap, haha, you know the story right? =p LoL, I am not going to try to poison you already, =p Anyhow, teddY is going dSLR too, =D

Mirez: Hahaha, yea, xD Erm, not really, it’s more like 55-200 VR wins hand down, =p 105mm is way out of my budget man, I would rather grab a tamron 90mm macro with half the price, or just get a super wide like Sigma 10-20mm, =D

No beach for me I guess, school days, =p

Poli275: Hahhahaha, you sure? Then you might be infected for a long time dude. =p

Calvin Ng Posted on 12 July, 2008 at 3:36 pm

Hey guy, you got your 50mm and 105 mm already? if not yet, don wait for too long, will miss out lots of good shots with this two lens.

Lucky you correct my name, otherwise …… angry you know…?

Have good shots!!! Calvin NG

IngSiang (Vagabond) Posted on 13 July, 2008 at 10:09 am

Calvin Ng: Hey! Totally didn’t expect you around, haha. =D Sorry for getting your name wrong in the first place, I don’t know how Francis pop into my brain, =\ Bad memory, sorry. =D

I haven’t get any new lens recently, still using my friend’s 50mm (manual focusing, lol). I’m looking @ old nikkors (MF), since there’s no AF-S prime that would AF on my D40. MF Nikkor prime are sharper, better and cheaper. =p And they’re optimised for MF-ing! =D

Current lust over 50mm AIS 1.4 and 100mm E series (so compact!), but in Brunei very hard to find, man… =\
