Sunday Splash at Yayasan!

DSC_8483

Ah well, not really, it’s just some sort of charity bazaar or something, that took place in Yayasan, somewhere in between the 4 blocks of building, the place where there’s a fountain and a great vantage point to overlook the amazing SOAS Mosque, remember?

It’s a coincidence that my mom was on her shopping spree, and I read from the news that there’s such an event there. So while waiting for mom to shop on her clothing and stuffs, I decided to do a bit of shooting out there. There’s nothing much at the bazaar, really, I saw a bit of food, a few bouncers and a weight lifting competition.

Therefore, I spent most of my time shooting the kids sliding down the bouncer and they added some water in to erm, provide some upthrust? =p *shrug* Maybe it’s just to make it better, since kids love water. I’m just wondering if the parents brought extra clothing for the kids, they’re all wet, lol. However, thanks to the water, the photos turn out much more interesting. =) Continue Reading…

Flying Fox @ Pusat Ehsan Charity Bazaar

DSC_2630-1

Last Sunday, we spent our entire day @ Pusat Ehsan Charity Bazaar. Most of us were there as volunteer workers (representing PYRO club of MD) while the BEs/juniors are there to setup a game booth. I

t was actually a pretty fun day but I was bounded by some jobs, so I didn’t really shoot much that day, which is something I kind of regret because the sunlight was pretty good that day. =p Anyway, I love the photos taken and 80% of the photos in my memory card are worth keeping (although I deleted quite a lot on the spot as I review them when I am free) and that kind of speed up my post-process work flow, hah! HM’s Birthday 3-in-1 Celebration : B&W

Finally I’m here to update my blog and feature some photos I shoot during the 3-in-1 (float procession, fireworks & Tug-o-War) celebration for His Majesty’s 62nd birthday. It was a great night and I really enjoyed it, with ChiHo, WeiYik, ChungSun and Edwin Lim. =) Like JinYang said, my campaign (as mentioned in the previous post) is doing great and I can see great potential in Edwin, lol!

We (me & ChiHo) reached there at about 5.30pm (to avoid traffic jam), and the rest met up with us by 7pm. We were basically roaming around, shooting while waiting for the float procession and fireworks. I shoot mainly candid and kids/babies because this is the very few occasion which you can see interesting people in Brunei and most aren’t intimidated by cameras (many even posed for us). I was using ChiHo’s 50mm (thanks mate!) so it’s mainly portraits. =p

The fireworks are not quite as amazing but it’s nice to watch, too! It’s long but I was hoping for more big fireworks, rather than a lot of lil’ one, lol. But yea, really long firework show (and there’s 3-4 of them in total throughout the night), I was too lazy to shoot it tho’, since we weren’t in the best position to shoot it, =p

I met JinYang that night, the very first time we met (after knowing each other online), he were snapping around with his 450D + IS lens, =) We also met a couple school mates, Marcos and Arif and etc. =D And at the end of the day (10-11pm), we went MeiKuang to have supper (tired after hours of wandering) and then we went back to padang to shoot and play around with the float procession which parked there and ready to leave. It was fun! =p Crazy camwhore time, duh.

Guess that’s all, photo time! =p This is a black & white series, the best way to present street candid and portraitures, =p I love this series, so yea, hope you guys like it as well, do comment, yea? =)

^ A videographer from RTB, =p I like the way he hold his expression and block all distraction - including being shot by me for about half a minute (2 shots, I think. But takes a bit of manual focusing, =p) He need to minimize vibration and movement, i.e. victim of candid! =D I love the DoF in this shot, too!

14.07.08 - Sunset Outing @ BSB w/ ChiHo

Me & ChiHo @ SOAS Mosque

^ Love this photo with ChiHo, =) That’s SOAS Mosque by the way, =)

On the day before His Majesty’s Birthday, I decided to go shooting @ Bandar, and tagged ChiHo along. We planned, but never really decided on it until about 4pm. We reached BSB (capital town of Brunei Darussalam) by about 5pm.

When we reach there, the weather is fine, the sun is about to go down, everything looks pretty amazing and fresh. =) I know BSB has cool looking sunset because I saw it before (when I shoot CHMS’ new building), and I am right! =) We’re very lucky that it didn’t rain till about 10pm! =D Continue Reading…
