Hands-on Review: Photoshop Express

The long awaited, online browser-based, ‘express’ & free version of the popular photo-editing software titan, Photoshop Express is finally here!

I signed up and gave it a test drive. I am quite pleased and happy about the whole thing actually, provided that:

  1. I never expect miracles from it, it’s an online browser-based application, and it’s FREE. So, no layers, no fancy masking, only some basic but useful tools (but they threw in the Sketch tool, I wonder why).
  2. I understand that it’s not so ‘express’ for me because of the terrible connection of our local ISP.
  3. You get 2GB free storage (I don’t need it tho, I have my Flickr). I notice the “account type” option in My Account page, and I think we can expect a paid version soon, perhaps something like more features (especially in the “effects” section and more storage).

I am not very good in writing, so I’ll just use a bunch of screenshots to give you guys some preview (like what Physics teacher said, when you need to describe something, draw diagrams, in this case, use screenshot!).

Dilemma: SmugMug or Flickr?

I just degraded my server from a $5/month Small Orange plan by AsmallOrange.com (400MB space, 10GB bandwidth) to a $25/year Tiny Orange plan (75MB space, 3GB bandwidth). I bought the Small Orange plan (which I don’t need) at first due to my wrong valuation of space/bandwidth usage. Until today, I haven’t even break the 50MB barrier on space usage, and barely hits 2GB on bandwidth usage.

P.S: Notable customer service from ASmallOrage.Com. The guy degrade my account instantly (after he confirms my need/want) and they refund me all the price differences between the two plans for this month.

Since I saved (when I decided to buy something, I allocate budgets, if I get that particular thing at a cheaper price, I’ll assume I ’saved’ some money, just my own policy) $35 per year now, I decided to get myself a paid photo-hosting account. For all this time, Flickr is my first and only choice. I was impressed by Flickr for long, but I found Smugmug.Com recently. Continue Reading…

Facebook Applications (FSX, CS & etc) Addiction & Mock Exams AKA Doom’s Day

This is going to be my last post before my mock exam (some started yesterday, mine starts on Saturday - Thinking Skills paper 1). =) Well, had been spending most of my time on Facebook (damn it!) and doing documentation for my computing project. Finished 80% of my Computing project documentation, around 50 pages (some of my classmates hit 100 pages, freak). It’s a very tedious work, I printscreen more than a hundred times, and half of the time I need to paste it in Microsoft Paint, and crop it, =S

What I hate even more is that I always tend to be distracted by Facebook when I am doing it! What to do? I am working on a laptop, and there’s espeed… Facebook is just a single couple clicks away! Continue Reading…

Quit Friendster! All Hail Facebook!

Hello fellow blog-ders (blog readers, according to XiaXue), sorry for being on a hiatus for the past 2 weeks, I think I photoblog too much that I am a bit lazy to do some typing, hehe. And life had been quite busy with all the homeworks, ECAs and computing project (urgh!). =(

Anyway, I am very happy now because I tried Facebook just now, and I am totally in love with it! I am an internet-geek because I fall in love with (good) websites as much as I do with (pretty) girls! =) You can see my previous ‘crush’ - Flickr , NinjaWords, Google Analytics, Flock (not a website, a web browser) and etc. =D

P.S: Maybe, I think I should update my list of “25(1213) Site (we)I Can’t Live Without”, hehe.

Ok, let’s get straight to the point. Well, Facebook is one of the most popular social networking website. According to Alexa ranking, it’s the 10th most visited website, while MySpace, the most popular social networking site on Earth sits at 6th place, and Orkut, the invitation-based social networking site by Google ends up at 7th place.

Facebook is highly recommended by a lot of people over the web (in blogs, forums and etc), and there’s a lot of good reviews about it, but it’s not very popular in Asia (not yet) because it’s specifically geared for colleges and universities students(particularly in US, Europe, Australia and etc) at first. However, it’s now available for high school students and everyone too! =) Continue Reading…
